About Me
A friend told me about this site and I knew I had to join. I want others out there to know that they too are not alone. Personally, I have had great difficulty in finding people with similar experiences.
It has been suggested by friends (and a therapist or two) that I need to expand my support group to include not just more people in the LGBT community, but specifically other LGBT people who have had similar problems dealing with families of origin and custody of children. My hope is that I can reach out in the future to others in similar circumstances so they will know that they too are not alone.
About myself: I am full time and have been since late 2005. I consider myself to be pre-op, although I donât know if Iâll ever be able to have surgery to better feminize myself. I am a parent (happily) who also happens to be embroiled in a custody dispute (not so happily). I am family oriented, and the most important people in my life are my children and my partner. My relations with my family of origin are slowly improving.
My friends would probably describe me as warm and caring, and probably say I'm *a bit* sensitive. I'm shy around people I don't know, but am very outgoing with people I know well. I am interested in art and photography, and occasionally cooking, though I have done little of these in recent years. I also like to read and listen to music (yes, I am one of those stuck in an 80âs time warpâ¦). I don't watch TV much, but can still enjoy some time in front of the tube.
I am looking for other women to be friends with, since for the most part, I am far more comfortable with women than I am with men. I do have some male friends, so my being friends with a man is not impossible, just more difficult. Finally, I have the right person in my life, so if youâre looking for love, please look elsewhere.
