Update 12/20/07: Happy Holidays and Happy 2008!! What a finish to a wonderful year. On 12/01/07, I came out to the two people I care about and love more than anyone, or anything in the world - my parents. I have to say that I have never felt so liberated and relieved in my life. Both of my parents were extremely understanding and now I really wonder why I waited this long to come out. I showed my parents a few of my pics that evening and they both couldn’t believe it was me in the pics. I never thought that I would get to this point, but I have always felt so guilty that I was not being true to myself and to my family. I feel like the whole world has been lifted off my back; what a relief!!
Since then, I have spent 3 nights dressed up with my parents and I just went shopping today on 12/20/07 with my mom and purchased some really cute outfits. By the way, my mom just took that pic of me in the red dress tonight. My mom dared to me to buy the dress because she didn’t think I could pull it off, but after she saw me in it think she was in total shock!! I do have to admit that it does still a little fresh and different being dressed around my family but I feel so much better because they are really taking the time to get to know me. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world right now!!
My dad even mentioned that we might go out for a family dinner once or twice a month and my mom wants to go out to lunch with me. I have found that since I have come out I feel so much closer to my family. Up to this point, I have felt so alone and lonely in the world. It’s so nice to have my family around to talk about what I am going through and how I feel. I know this must have been a total bomb that I dropped on my parents but they handled it with unconditional love. I feel truly blessed!!
My brother is flying home tomorrow night and I plan on coming out to him during the holidays. Wish me luck!! <
