About Me

My life is in total flux. After living six good years past the original prognosis, my beloved wife of 21 years succumbed to cancer in early October. She had been in the process of gradual acceptance over a number of years from the time she caught me dressed, moving from the anger she felt at my keeping a secret from her for so long to allowing me to attend parties and conferences elsewhere with her blessing. She was delighted that I found a support group in Lexington and told me I could dress at home so I could attend those meetings. The first time she finally would have met Barbara Ann would have been on November 6, and that, of course, will not be coming to pass. I will always wonder what she would have felt at finally meeting my Inner Girl with no secrets between us. At the very least, I’d like to think that my female side enabled me to be a better caregiver.

I have dressed off and on since my early teens, sometimes more off than on, including a fifteen year hiatus when I lived abroad. Considering that and the fact that I am on the mature end of the age spectrum here, I find myself wishing a forum like URNA had been around then. I'm sure my life would be entirely different now. Ah well, what if, what if. This much is clear: much change is in store for me as my female side finally emerges.

I'm petite as a woman (5'4"), well-educated and well-traveled, having spent much of my adult life in Asia and the Middle East. This experience has led me to a progressive, humanistic worldview. My interests (other than dressing) include travel, music, culinary arts, woodworking, and nature/travel photography.

I hardly ever enter the chat room anymore due to its cliquishness, so I do my chatting in Yahoo. But if you leave a comment or drop me an email, I will be happy to respond. I am old-fashioned regarding friends: I like to know them first. If we have not met in some way, then I will not add you.
